Buying a new car?
The ultimate exterior protection checklist.

Buying a new car is an exciting experience that many people look forward to. Whether you’re purchasing your first car or upgrading to a newer model, there are a lot of factors to consider before making your final decision. One important aspect that often gets overlooked is exterior paint protection. Keeping your car’s paint looking new and glossy can not only enhance its appearance, but also help maintain its value over time. To ensure your new car’s paint stays protected for years to come, it’s important to have a comprehensive paint protection plan in place. This includes paint correction, ceramic coating, and paint protection film. Each of these options offers unique benefits and can be customized to suit your individual needs.

Paint correction

Involves removing minor imperfections from your car’s paint, such as scratches, swirl marks, and water spots. This is typically done through a multistep process that involves buffing and polishing the paint to restore its clarity and shine.

Ceramic coating

Is a popular option for those looking for long-lasting protection against environmental factors such as UV rays, bird droppings, and acid rain. This coating forms a protective layer over the paint that repels dirt and debris, making it easier to clean and maintain.

Paint protection film

Is another option that provides excellent protection against scratches, chips, and other types of damage. This film is applied to the car’s exterior and can be customized to cover specific areas such as the hood, front bumper, or side mirrors.

Before making a decision on which paint protection option to choose, it’s important to research and compare the different products available. It’s also a good idea to consult with a professional detailing company to get their expert opinion on which option will work best for your car and lifestyle. By investing in a comprehensive paint protection plan, you can ensure that your new car’s paint stays looking new and shiny for years to come, and help protect your investment in the long run.

#1. Paint correction

Paint correction is a process that involves removing imperfections and blemishes from a vehicle’s painted surface. These imperfections can include swirl marks, scratches, water spots, oxidation, and other types of damage that can dull the paint’s shine and clarity. Paint correction is typically performed by skilled professionals who use specialized tools and techniques to restore the paint to its original condition.

The process of paint correction typically involves several steps. First, the vehicle is washed and cleaned thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris from the surface. Then, the technician will carefully inspect the paint to identify any areas of damage or imperfections. Once the problem areas are identified, the technician will use a series of abrasive compounds and polishes to remove the damaged paint layers and reveal the fresh, undamaged layers underneath. This process is typically done using a dual-action polisher, which allows for precise control over the level of abrasion applied to the paint. After the correction process is complete, the paint is thoroughly cleaned and inspected to ensure that all imperfections have been removed. Depending on the severity of the damage, multiple rounds of correction may be necessary to achieve the desired results. The end result of a successful paint correction process is a vehicle with a smooth, glossy, and reflective paint finish that looks like new. By removing imperfections from the paint, the vehicle’s value can be increased and the overall appearance of the car improved.

It’s important to note that paint correction should only be performed by trained professionals, as improper use of polishing equipment or abrasive compounds can cause further damage to the paint. Additionally, it’s important to take steps to protect the paint after the correction process is complete, such as through the application of a ceramic coating and paint protective film. Even new cars could need paint correction. It’s important to understand that just because a car is new doesn’t mean that its paint is perfect. In fact, many new cars have some imperfections in their paint due to the manufacturing and transportation process. These imperfections can include swirl marks from the polishing process, sanding marks from the factory, or even small scratches from transport.

The benefits of paint correction

A flawless paint finish is one of the hallmarks of a well-maintained vehicle. However, exposure to the elements, improper cleaning techniques, and other factors can cause imperfections to appear on the paint surface over time. This is where paint correction comes in. Paint correction is a process that involves removing imperfections and blemishes from a vehicle’s painted surface. This process can have a wide range of benefits, including restoring the paint’s original shine, removing swirl marks and scratches, and enhancing the overall appearance of the vehicle. Additionally, paint correction can protect the paint from further damage, increase its lifespan, and make it easier to maintain. Ultimately, investing in paint correction can provide a sense of pride and ownership, as well as increase the vehicle’s resale value.

  1. Restores the paint’s original shine: Over time, a vehicle’s paint can become dull and lackluster due to exposure to the elements. Paint correction can restore the paint’s original shine and make it look like new again.
  2. Removes swirl marks and scratches: Swirl marks and scratches can be unsightly and detract from the appearance of a vehicle. Paint correction can remove these imperfections and leave a smooth, glossy surface.
  3. Improves the vehicle’s overall appearance: A vehicle with flawless paint looks better and can be more enjoyable to own and drive.
  4. Enhances the value of the vehicle: A car with a flawless paint finish can be worth more than one with visible imperfections.
  5. Protects the paint from further damage: By removing imperfections from the paint, paint correction can help protect the vehicle’s paint from further damage.
  6. Increases the lifespan of the paint: By removing contaminants and imperfections from the paint, paint correction can help extend the lifespan of the paint.
  7. Makes it easier to maintain the paint: A smooth and glossy paint surface is easier to clean and maintain, which can save time and effort in the long run.
  8. Can be customized to suit individual needs: Paint correction can be tailored to the specific needs of the vehicle owner, whether that means removing minor imperfections or restoring severely damaged paint.
  9. Improves the vehicle’s resale value: A vehicle with flawless paint can be more attractive to potential buyers, which can help increase its resale value.
  10. Provides a sense of pride and ownership: Knowing that your vehicle’s paint is in perfect condition can be a source of pride and make the ownership experience more enjoyable.

Ceramic coating is known for its durability, hydrophobic properties, and ability to enhance the appearance of a vehicle. It has become increasingly popular in recent years as car owners look for ways to protect their investment and keep their vehicles looking great for longer periods of time. In this introduction, we will explore what ceramic coating is, how it works, and the benefits it can provide for your vehicle.

The benefits of Ceramic Coating

There are numerous benefits of applying a ceramic coating to your car, including protection against environmental damage, easier cleaning, enhanced gloss and shine, long-lasting protection, and resistance to scratches and swirls. Additionally, a ceramic coating is cost-effective in the long run and can help retain your car’s resale value. Overall, a ceramic coating can be a great investment for anyone looking to protect and enhance the appearance of their car’s exterior.

  2. Enhanced gloss and shine: A ceramic coating enhances the shine and gloss of your car, giving it a showroom-like finish. It creates a smooth and glossy surface, reflecting light in a way that makes your car look like it’s brand new.
  3. Easier cleaning: With a ceramic coating, dirt, grime, and other contaminants have a much harder time sticking to your car’s surface. Cleaning your car becomes easier and quicker, with less effort and less frequency required.
  4. Long-lasting protection: A ceramic coating is durable and long-lasting, offering protection for years to come. It creates a strong bond with your car’s paint, which means it won’t wash away or wear off easily.
  5. Reduced need for waxing: A ceramic coating can help reduce the need for waxing your car. While waxing provides some level of protection, it is not as long-lasting or durable as a ceramic coating.
  6. Resistant to scratches and swirls: A ceramic coating is harder and more resistant to scratches and swirls than traditional paint. It creates a protective barrier that can prevent minor scratches and swirls from forming on your car’s surface.
  7. UV protection: A ceramic coating protects your car from UV rays, which can cause damage and fade your car’s paint over time. UV protection is particularly important for cars that are frequently exposed to sunlight.
  8. Cost-effective: While applying a ceramic coating can be an initial investment, it can be cost-effective in the long run. It can help you save money on frequent car washes, waxing, and paint corrections.
  9. Retains resale value: A ceramic coating can help retain your car’s resale value. A well-maintained and protected exterior can make your car more attractive to potential buyers, increasing its value.
  10. Improved hydrophobic properties: A ceramic coating creates a hydrophobic layer that repels water, making it easier for water to bead up and roll off your car’s surface. This can help prevent water spots and reduce the amount of water that remains on your car after a wash.

Vital questions to ask any professional ceramic coating installation shop near Long Beach, Ca

Are you starting to do your research on ceramic coating installation for your vehicle? At Polished Protection, we understand that a complex process like ceramic coatings can be a daunting task to learn about. Even if you deep dive into the ceramic coating process itself, who can you trust to install a coating on your vehicle? In this article, we are going to be breaking down the most vital questions you can ask any ceramic coating installer near Long Beach. This list is designed to give you the tools needed to make a decision on which professional ceramic coating installer is right for you. If you have decided that your vehicle deserves a high quality product like Ceramic Pro coating, shouldn’t the installers be just as quality? We think so. Let’s break it down.

How long have you been installing ceramic coatings?

When making an informative decision on who to trust installing a ceramic coating on your vehicle, always ask this question! How long an installer has been applying ceramic coatings will give you insight into their experience. The saying practice makes perfect is exactly right. Every time a ceramic coating installer applies a coating, they gain experience towards becoming masters. The closer they get to becoming masters, the more it will benefit you, the consumer. Quality workmanship and peace of mind are the benefits you will receive when going with an experienced ceramic coating installer or shop. We recommend taking the time to find a ceramic coating shop with a lot of installations under their belt. Online reviews are another great way for consumers to find a reputable shop. You can find consumer reviews on Google Or Yelp that will give you insight into how these ceramic coating shops interact with their customers.

Are you licensed, insured, and certified ceramic coating installer?

The answer should be absolutely. These three attributes are the building blocks that make up a reputable ceramic coating installer. A license makes the shop a legitimate business. The insurance will provide the biggest relief to consumers against accidental vehicle damage. A certification will give the consumer peace of mind knowing that the ceramic coating installers are masters of these products. Searching for a reliable business to trust will start with one that is licensed, insured, and certified. Ask this question to protect yourself against future issues.

Do you prep my car before applying a ceramic coating?

Yes, is the only answer you should receive. Prep work is the most important part of the ceramic coating process. Without proper prep work, the only thing your ceramic coating will protect is a scratched surface. It should begin with a wash and clay bar, and almost always followed by paint correction. Once these steps are completed, your paint will be ready for a ceramic coating. Be sure to find out if the ceramic coating shop you are looking at preps your car, if so, how do they do it? And is it included?

Do you use major ceramic coating brands?

The answer should be “Yes” from any certified installer. A reputable shop should always use trustworthy ceramic coating brands. Like any product on the market, big brands have gotten a reputation through years of experience and quality. When it comes to applying something to your vehicle’s paint, we recommend going with a credible source. After all, the price of a vehicle can be immense, which would you rather have on your paint? Only the best shops have access to professional coatings. At Polished Protection, we use nothing but the best. Ceramic Pro is our brand of choice. Unmatched quality mixed with years of high performance makes this our go-to choice. We have earned a partnership with Ceramic Pro by providing expert quality installations on thousands of vehicles. Find out how we apply one of the best ceramic coating brands to your vehicle today!

Do you offer warranties on your ceramic coatings?

Yes, a ceramic coating without a warranty isn’t a professional grade ceramic coating at all. Only do business with shops that offer both a product warranty and a workmanship warranty. Ceramic coating warranties should be a staple in every ceramic coating package offered. The benefits of a warranty need no explanation, it provides a safety blanket between you, your money, and the service performed. But what about companies that are not offering a warranty? Work that is not confidently warrantied could lead to major issues down the road. If you purchase a ceramic coating just to have it underperform, where does that leave you? Always ask if the ceramic coating installer offers warranties. More protection equals less stress all around. When a reputable shop offers a warranty, it will usually come with different time lengths depending on the package purchased. For example, for our gold exterior package, we offer a lifetime warranty. We have different warranties for different packages. To learn more about our ceramic coating warranties, please visit our ceramic coating page here.

Do you offer check up appointments on ceramic coating installations?

100%! Annual inspections are actually required to maintain the warranty on a ceramic pro coating. Check up appointments are a win-win for ceramic coating shops and consumers. Ceramic coating installers get feedback in real time on their craftsmanship, and consumers get peace of mind knowing the product they purchased continues to be quality. Check-up appointments are designed to make sure everything provided is still up to par and being maintained properly. A ceramic coating shop that cares about the experience you have after leaving is one you can trust!

Conclusion:

Ask these important questions to any ceramic coating installer near Long Beach, and we are sure you will find the right ceramic coating shop for you and your vehicle. The Biggest Question We Get About Clear Bra / Paint Protection Film

Tesla getting Xpel Paint Protection Film Installed

Today we are talking about why you should get Clear Bra or not get Clear Bra. Where do you get the advice? Whose advice do you take? Who should you believe should be in your full car, your front end? Do you only need the bottom of your car? Now, what’s your reasoning for Clear Bra? This is probably the biggest question, can we get when people get a brand-new car. They definitely want to protect it. They just don’t know, is it worth the money? How much should I spend? Which package should I get? Which film? So a lot of people have ended up going on forums, and taking advice from complete strangers. And I think the reason they do this is that when they call a shop, most shops are trying to sell them the most expensive option or just trying to convince them that whatever they sell in their shop is the best thing to buy. That’s not always the case, though, right? So you really want to buy what makes the most sense for you and not for the shop that’s selling it to you. And if you come to our shop, we do things a little bit differently. We’re going to lay out different options for you. We’re going to find out how you’re using the car. Are you going to track this car? Are you going to just park in the driveway? You commute 2 miles to work, or you commute 200 miles. These are all very important factors when deciding. And I don’t think a stranger on Instagram or in a Facebook forum is the best place to give you advice on this or Reddit any of them.

This is my personal car. Now, it’s funny that it’s a good time to do a video because I’ve had this car for a year, and when I first got it, I only did the front end of my car. I own the shop. I can do whatever I want to my car. Right, but it’s a very good example. Why did I only do the front end? Was that being cheap? No. I don’t like to spend money. That’s not necessary, and when I first got my car, I didn’t plan on tracking this car or driving it on super long journeys. I really wasn’t concerned with stone chips hitting the back of my car. It’s just a sedan. There’s no reason for it. So I did the front end. Well, after having the car for about a year, and I have two little kids and I go to the grocery store and I go to the gym park a lot in all these places, I realize how fearful I am of someone constantly rubbing against my car. So now we’re growing the rest of my car because now it fits my lifestyle, and it fits what I personally need out of here. Brand for this car, you should be doing the same thing. Ask us for some advice, but it’s only going to be advice based on what we’ve seen and who we’ve dealt with. It definitely will not be based on opinions. That is for you to decide. That’s your opinion of what you need, what your finances can afford, or what makes sense for them if you have an unlimited budget. Hey, man, Clear Bra the whole car. Why not? It’s the most safety you can get to. Clear Bra, the whole thing, right? But that’s really expensive compared to just doing the front end, and if you don’t need that, it doesn’t make sense to spend the money. So you really have to find out what makes the most sense for you. Are you going to drive this car on super long journeys? Are you really concerned if it gets a small stone chip on the side? What are your concerns? What is the biggest objective that you’re trying to overcome by getting Clear bra? That’s what you have to ask yourself, not someone else, because it doesn’t matter if this guy only needs Clear Bra on his bumper because he’s only driving a couple of miles, he has no kids. This is weekend car. Who knows? I don’t know what this guy does with this car, but he is unsure, has a different reason for whatever he’s doing in his car compared to what I’m doing in my personal car. So this video is probably one of the few ones from a detail shop that says, hey, do what makes sense for you, not for us. You can call us, and we’ll give you unbiased advice on what we think is best based on what you tell us. So if we ask you, what are you going to use your car for? And you say, I’m going to race it on a track four days out of the month, then we would probably suggest you clear bra the front end, the rockers, the mirrors, and possibly your doors if you say, you know what, Nic, my biggest concern is I love my car. I love the color of my car, and I don’t want it to ever get scratched and still want to risk it. Well, in that case, I would still tell you to clear on the whole car. I will say clear by the whole car because you really don’t have to worry about it getting scratched when it has served on the whole car. It’s probably the thing that will stop it the most. It’s not bulletproof, but it’s going to be damn near close. So those are two different situations. Call the shop that you’re thinking of going to ask them for advice. If it seems like they’re trying to sell you more than lead you in the right direction, you have now picked the wrong shop. You need a shop that’s going to give you the correct, honest advice for what your usage is of your vehicle. If all they’re trying to do is pass their pocket and sell you their most expensive option. It’s time to hang that phone up and call a different shop. And if you’re in our area, the shop will be us. Okay? Call us. We’re going to set you right. We want you to come back with every car you buy in the future because you felt like you got solid advice from us. You felt like the value of what you spent came back in what we gave you.

Those are very important factors when choosing whether or not to get clear bra and how much clear bra to get. We will do a whole other video on ceramic coating, but you can call us for that also, and I’ll make another video talking about the benefits of ceramic coating. How much to put on, how long the warranty, does it matter that it has a long warranty? That video is coming real soon.

Is paint protection film a good investment?  There are a multitude of things to consider before purchasing PPF. How does clear bra protect my paint? What are the benefits? What does paint protection film protect?

Whether you are a consumer who is looking to preserve the originality of your car or a person who needs a tool to ensure preservation for the purpose of reselling, clear bra is the answer. Your hard-earned money goes into purchasing a vehicle and maintaining it. These films give you the special opportunity to uphold the value of your vehicle, nothing becomes more costly to a vehicle owner than when damage occurs. Given the rising costs of what feels like every product on the market, this could lead you to spending hundreds of dollars on repairing a cosmetic issue if you are not prepared. There is a reason why paint protection film has become a household name, it is recommended by everybody and has large lists of pro’s. Are you interested in learning more about PPF? Visit our Blog page to read more articles about paint protection film.

How does paint protection film protect?

Paint protection film acts like a safeguard against the harsh elements. Your vehicle’s paint can be susceptible to damage such as road debris, rock chips, even the sun’s harmful UV rays. Clear bra puts a layer of protection between the natural dangers of the outside world, and your vehicle’s paint. PPF is a polyurethane composite designed with durability in mind. It is specially formulated with self-healing properties as well. What does that mean for you? This means if a rock jumps up off the road and scratches the PPF (not your paint) the paint protection film goes to work. Internal fibers work together to absorb the surface scratch to make it invisible to the eye. Not only does PPF protect your paint, it maintains its clarity by itself! Protection and clarity paired with cutting-edge technology is how PPF protects your paint.

What does PPF protect against?

PPF protects against a few things. Even before you get into drive, PPF is hard at work. The sun’s harsh UV rays can be damaging your vehicle’s paint on a microscopic level. Depending on the weather conditions of where you live, the sun can play a vast role in the integral breakdown of your car’s paint. The sun emits harsh ultraviolet rays that hit your vehicle’s paint and breaks down the paint’s internal compounds. Years of this process unfolding can result in paint starting to oxidize and fade right before your eyes. A reason why when you see a car’s paint start to fail it usually starts on the roof, hood, and trunk! Paint protection film has the power to absorb the UV rays before they hit your car, just one of the scientific ways PPF protects. On the subject of natural weather affecting the integrity of paint, rain water is considered to be very harsh to the health of a vehicle’s paint. Rain water is considered “hard water” hard water is water with a high count of dissolved calcium and magnesium. When hard water hits your paint, the result is very harsh stains left behind. These stains are very hard to get rid of if left unattended. PPF blocks these hard waters from reaching your paint by putting a physical barrier between the two. If you ever had to deal with hard water spots on your car’s paint, you will understand how important it is to prevent it from happening. All aspects of how PPF protects are vital, however when people think PPF they think of protection against road debris, such as rock and small sharp objects. Creating a physical barrier between your paint and outside elements are the bones of how clear bra works. Rocks fly up, hit the clear bra and bounce off. Keeping the scratches on top of the clear bra keeps your paint staying fresh and healthy.

Who should invest in paint protection film?

No matter what type of driver you are and how you use your vehicle, paint protection film is hugely beneficial.  The question is, “should I invest in paint protection film?” our answer is YES. The benefits of PPF

The Ultimate Protection:

Create a barrier between the harsh outside elements and your vehicle’s paint. PPF is unlike any other paint protection product on the market today. Large pros with practically zero cons. For somebody looking for the best way to protect their vehicle’s paint, we can’t think of a better way to do it.

Cutting-Edge Technology:

PPF shops near you will prepare clear bra to be put on your vehicle in one of two ways. Laying the films across your vehicle, then hand-cutting the shapes out to fit your vehicle. Here at Polished Protection, plotters and cutters, the second method for PPF preparation. Using major PPF brand names like Xpel here at the shop allow us to use their huge database of plotter files. This database has virtually every car and their shapes stored in one place, allowing us to cut films out precisely and safely before applying. This is hugely important because it allows us to take the risk factor of scratching your paint with a knife when applying PPF. Traditional hand cutting methods are known to be more vulnerable to scratches made by a PPF installer. This cuts that problem out completely.

Peace of Mind:

You get peace of mind! If you have invested your hard-earned money into obtaining the car of your dreams, the last thing you want to worry about is an outside element damaging your car. PPF eliminates 99.9% of that worry. Enjoy your vehicle with peace of mind, all the time.

Backed by a Manufacture’s Warranty:

Manufacturer warranties are one of the huge bonuses you will receive when purchasing PPF. We use Xpel paint protection films here at the Polished Protection for a number of reasons. High quality, unmatched technology, and backings by the manufacturer. A 10-year warranty on all Xpel PPF products is something you can keep in your pocket for up to 10 years. If there are any indiscretions in the manufactures’ product they will cover it, where else will you find such a great warranty? WE WANT TO ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT PAINT PROTECTION FILM

We Want to Answer All Your Questions About Paint Protection Film.

We get a lot of questions about paint protection film here at Polished Protection Signal Hill. We thought this would be a good time to create a comprehensive guide for answering all the common questions on paint protection film. With paint protection film being unique in its class, we will always recommend it for a couple reasons. Not only do we find it to be the ultimate way to protect your vehicle’s paint, we also find it to be the best way to protect your investment in your vehicle. Let’s take a look at the ins and outs of this amazing protection film.

What is PPF?

PPF, or paint protection film, also known as “clear bra,” is a thin, clear film that is applied to your car’s paint to protect it from the abrasive elements. Scratches, debris, and the sunlight are all things your paint is susceptible to when driving on the road. Paint protection film acts as a shield from these harsh elements. PPF is made out of polyurethane and is specially made with an adhesive backing that will stick to your vehicle’s paint without damaging it.

Why should I purchase PPF for my car?

PPF serves a multitude of purposes for many people, but the main reason we believe you should purchase PPF for your vehicle is peace of mind. If you want to protect your investment in your vehicle, paint protection film is the best way to do so. In the same way a jacket protects you from the outside elements, PPF protects your vehicle’s paint from the harsh elements that could potentially damage the health of your vehicle’s paint. Besides the apparent scratches and rock chips that hit your paint and damage it, elements such as the sun are abrasive to your paint every time you drive it. Unseen to the naked eye, the sun’s ultraviolet rays penetrate your paint on a molecular level, breaking your paint’s compounds apart and resulting in chipping and flaking. PPF protects your paint from these ultraviolet rays reaching it. In cases of scratches or rock chips, paint protection film is specially formulated with self-healing properties, which can allow freshly scratched paint protection film to absorb the scratch and make it invisible on the outside. How is PPF installed?

There are two ways to install paint protection film, one is by laying a large piece of film across a panel and hand-cutting the piece to fit your vehicle’s shape, and the other way is by rolling the film through a cutter or plotter to cut out the exact shape of your vehicle’s panel before applying it. In our PPF shop, we use cutters and plotters before laying the PPF onto your car. While we do offer both methods, we prefer this method over the traditional way for a couple reasons: If we can avoid using a knife closely on your paint, we will do that! Although this is not usually an issue with professional PPF installation shops using a knife close to your paint, there is still that small risk of accidentally scratching your paint with a sharp knife. The other reason we like to use cutters and plotters to cut our films before laying them is how precisely the cutters and plotters cut the shapes! We use a huge database with the measurements of virtually every car to tell the plotters what piece to cut. This takes the inconsistencies out of cutting material, making it a higher-quality job for you, and it allows us to use the right amount of material.

When should I apply PPF to my car?

As soon as you want the ultimate protection! We recommend the sooner the better. You never know when a rock on the road will skip up and chip the paint on your new car, or when someone in a parking lot will scratch it. Applying a paint protection package to your vehicle as soon as possible will allow you to worry less every single time you get in your car and drive!

Who should I trust to install PPF on my car?

Paint protection film manufacturers offer certification programs for shops that want to become experts on their products. This should be the gold standard when finding a PPF installer. Polished Protection is a certified PPF installer for XPEL paint protection films. A certificate is important for a PPF installer because it gives them ultimate credibility. These certification programs are courses taught by PPF manufacturers to make sure the PPF shops are up to date on the technology that goes into creating these products and how to apply them safely and precisely. See what kind of work we have under our belt as an Xpel-certified PPF installer here.

Which brand of PPF should I go with?

There are a couple major brands in the clear bra industry, but our number one choice is Xpel paint protection films. We found that no other PPF company was as well-rounded as Xpel. Technology matched with unparalleled customer service and support makes this our go-to choice for our paint protection shop.

How much PPF should I apply to my car?

When we are asked this question, we first look at two factors: what environment is your car used in, and what type of driver are you? Polished Protection provides four PPF packages based on the answers to those two questions. From a basic package that offers front bumper and headlight coverage to a full car package that covers all painted surfaces on your car, If you are a weekend warrior and enjoy offroading in your 4×4, then full coverage is what we would recommend to combat the abrasive elements of dirt, gravel and branch scratches. If you daily commute to work 1 mile away, maybe a basic or standard package is right for you, providing front end protection against those short street miles. Call to talk to one of our professionals today about which package is right for you and your vehicle.

How long does PPF last?

Depending on where you live and the kind of usage you put your car through, you can determine how long your PPF will last. However, if properly applied and maintained, PPF will last 5 to 10 years. Like any item you purchase, the more you take care of it, the longer it will last, and PPF is no exception!

How do you maintain PPF?

When maintaining and cleaning your car with paint protection film on it, we have a couple tips and tricks to help you. For starters, we recommend that you never use abrasive polishes or sealants on the PPF; this could result in the film losing its clarity or high protective properties. If you can help it, you should always use soft water to clean your vehicle with PPF on it; soft water will combat harsh water spots. For home washing, you should always use the correct soap, we recommend our Polished Car Care Cleanse Soap for the ultimate PPF wash. After washing we recommend applying our quick ceramic detailer Elevate to ensure protection and ease of maintenance next time you wash. Plush and soft microfiber towels for drying and wiping any excess water. Have a question about home maintenance? PAINT PROTECTION FILM VS. CERAMIC COATING

Paint Protection Film vs Ceramic Coating

With the rise of information and technology, one industry that is rapidly growing in popularity is the world of automotive paint protection. It’s no news that ever since the invention of the automobile, man has become a fanatic for the culture and when huge leaps in culture are struck, roots of subcultures are born. We are far from the days of helping your grandfather wash his car with a single bucket and some tin wax though. Ingenuity and creativity has led us to know more about keeping the cars we love in pristine condition longer than ever before. Even if you haven’t dipped your toes into the ever expanding world of paint protection, there are two names you might have heard of, paint protection film and ceramic coatings. What are these products ? What do they do? Are they similar? Today We are going to shed some light on the matter in hopes you have a better understanding of what these are and what they do. Let’s dive in.

What is paint protection film?

Paint protection film, also known as clear bra or ppf, is a thin clear film that is applied on top of your car’s paint to protect it from everyday roadway hazards. Rock chips, & rogue road debris can cause potential damage to your paint everytime you drive your car. Paint protection film can be considered a shield of sorts, like a bullet proof vest or a screen protector for your phone. It adds a layer of security or stopping power before a scratch or stone impact can damage your car’s paint. Why is this good? There are many benefits to consider, like resale value, longevity of your vehicle’s paint, and even driving style accommodations. There is now a product to help you drive more and worry less.

What is a ceramic coating?

Ceramic coatings or paint coatings is another line of defense when it comes to protecting your vehicle’s paint. Unlike paint correction film, where you have a physical sheet applied on top of the paint, Ceramic coatings are a liquid that is applied by hand that chemically bonds itself to the paint. The appeal with ceramic coatings is its hydrophobic properties. Once a coating is applied water does not stick to the surface of the paint, it “beads”, allowing the water to roll off. Why this is a huge benefit is because the effects hard water has on your vehicle’s paint is extremely damaging. Hard water, such as the water that comes out of your garden hose has a hardness reading of 120 parts per million, where filtered “soft” water has a hardness reading of 15 parts per million. So in this case if the “bad” water can’t stick to your paint it can`t damage it! Other benefits include any contamination having a hard time sticking to the paint, bird droppings, dirt, grime will sit on the surface and not embed itself, making the washing process a lot easier.

How is paint protection film and ceramic coating different?

A common misunderstanding is that PPF & Ceramic Coatings are essentially the same thing. When in fact the only bond they share is the fact they are both paint protection products. Paint protection film is a transparent vehicle wrap designed to add a layer of protection from driving hazards that can cause knicks, chips, small dents & scratches. A ceramic coating is applied to protect your vehicle from the elements such as sun damage, water spots and other contaminants. A ceramic pro coating also makes exterior maintenance a breeze with its hydroponic properties. Ceramic coatings are sort of a clever science precaution, a way to understand the damages coming and adapt to best combat them. If rain water is the enemy, it simply will not allow the water to sit still. Both clear bra and ceramic coatings are protectors, but as you can see go about it in a completely different manner.

Which is the best? Clear bra or ceramic coatings?

When it comes to the subject of ppf vs ceramic coatings, here’s what to consider: what’s the application for? What do you wish to combat? If you asked us which one we would choose, truthfully… we choose both everytime. Now if this was a discussion of two items that are exactly the same, that wouldn’t be our answer. We would have to look at what dangers lie ahead and which product would we choose as our weapon. The truth is paint protection film and ceramic coatings protection your car in completely different ways, so why not double down on protecting your investment? What one lacks the other compliments, put them together and you have a personal paint bodyguard.

So which is better? Paint protection film or ceramic coating?

In conclusion both paint protection products are modern day marvels in the world of automotive paint protection. Both have great pros and little to no cons. The path for your vehicle’s paint really relies on its application, if you are one who enjoys the drive of a canyon and are worried about rock chips, road debris, or the sun on a long journey, perhaps paint protection film is for you. If you’re somebody who wants paint protection against the rain, or natural elements like bird droppings and mineral deposits, maybe ceramic coatings is where you should lean. Regardless of the choices you make, you can rest easy knowing these two products are state of the art in the industry.

IS PAINT PROTECTION FILM WORTH IT?

Is Paint Protection Film worth it?

To find the answers of this common Paint Protection Film question we must first take a quick dive into the world of automotive paint protection. What is paint protection film exactly? Is it different from a clear bra? How do I know if I should apply this protection wrap to my car? At Polished Protection Signal Hill we strive to provide our customers with the best resources to make educated decisions when it comes to protecting their car. So, let’s take a look at some of the most commonly asked questions to get you a better understanding of this thing called paint protection film and if it is worth investing in.

What is Paint Protection Film?

Paint protection film is a versatile thermoplastic Polyurethane product with a special formulated adhesive built in… what the heck does that mean and how does that pertain to your car?  Simply put,  Paint protection film, also known as Clear Bra, is a thin clear film that is carefully applied on top of your car’s paint to protect it from the elements. You can think of paint protection film as your first line of defense when it comes to protecting your vehicle’s paint from damage. No different than applying a case to a brand new iphone, the idea is to take precautions against damage.

Where did Clear Bra come from?

Clear bra has been mainly associated with the automotive industry. Early on you might not have known what clear bra is unless you were in the motorsports industry. Clear bra was used by racing teams to protect their race cars. But before the automotive industry adopted clear bra, its conception came at a time of war. You can find products of all kinds on the market today that were designed for military use, clear bra fall in this category. During the Vietnam War in the 50`s the American military needed a way to protect their helicopter’s rotor blades from damage. Helicopter tape , also known as clear bra in today’s world, was the solution. This clear film could protect the blades from debris and other elements without affecting how the blades operated. Thanks to ingenuity, the technology would find itself being used in a more everyday practice.

What are the benefits of Paint Protection Film?

Like anything we purchase with our hard earned dollars, the question becomes “how can I care for this product to make sure it lasts as long as possible?” Paint protection film is the solution to keeping your car looking new. It adds a layer of security to your vehicle’s paint that can last up to a decade with proper care and maintenance. (check out Polished Car Care for PPF maintenance) Worry`s of rock chips or road debris damaging your vehicle’s paint are eliminated. One feature of Paint Protection Film is its self-healing properties. Like our body working hard to heal from a scratch or bruise, ppf does the same thing when scratched or scored. Once the film is hit with a rock chip or scratch, it has the power to heal itself in minutes through a process called microreplication. The best part is you don’t have to do anything to help the scratched surfaces, simply driving under the sun kickstarts the self healing process. Layers inside the Paint Protection Film work together to get rid of top level imperfections. Not only does ppf protect your paint but it looks good doing it! Besides the relief of stressing over your vehicle’s paint everytime you drive your car, paint protection film can add benefits you might not have thought about. Take paint fading for instance, the sun’s rays are constantly beating down on your car’s paint, with some not having the luxury of shaded car storage, this can be a major problem in protecting your investment. PPF can add a shield against harsh light. Unlike other films, paint protection film is specifically designed with normal vehicle use in mind. This means that it will not fog or yellow under conditions.

Why invest in Paint Protection Film?

We find this paint protection film lives up to its name. If you`re somebody who plans on keeping your car for years to come, it can offer the ultimate solution to keeping your vehicle looking new. Maybe you`re somebody who loves the driving experience, but are worried about the damage roads can cause. For somebody who loves the thrill of buying and selling, it can protect your investment from exterior damage for a better resale experience. For any type of person, paint protection film has huge benefits. The great thing about paint protection film is its applicability. Any vehicle can have ppf installed on it and we do this with precise large format plotters and cutters. Xpel Clear Bra is run through a machine that cuts pieces to fit your vehicle’s exact shape.
