WHAT IS PAINT CORRECTION?
Paint Correction is the process of leveling/removing swirl marks and scratches in the top layer of your paint’s finish. Properly using a machine buffer/polisher to remove defects in the paint such as bird poop, swirl marks/wash scratches, light scratches, scuffs, sanding marks, and water spots. Paint correction must be done with proper lighting to see all defects in the paint and to determine whether or not they have been fully removed. When paint correction is performed properly, the paint’s color, depth, metallic/pearl and overall gloss is drastically improved. Paint correction permanently removes defects from the paint’s surface.
HOW DOES PAINT CORRECTION WORK?
We offer three different levels of paint correction (1-Step, 2-Step, and 3 Step) depending on the color, age, and condition of the paint. These three stages are differentiated based on the methods, products and time required to polish the vehicle properly.
Our 1-Step is meant only to enhance gloss and remove extremely light oxidation.
Our 2-Step is our most popular choice and is meant to remove light/moderate wash scratches, swirls and defects.
Our 3-Step is reserved for heavy oxidation, deeper random scratches and major defects in the paint.
WHY IS PAINT CORRECTION SO POPULAR NOW AND WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?
Paint correction has become so much more popular because of the recent ceramic coating movement in the last decade. Ceramic coatings are completely clear and do not have the ability to hide any defects in the paint like some waxes and sealants do. This is where paint correction is very different from a basic low priced detail. Waxes and sealants appear to make the vehicle look better when you pick it up, but after a few washes remove the fillers from your paint, you will see the same scratches that were supposed to be removed. This is where paint correction differs. Paint correction removes the scratches by slowly leveling the defect from the paint. No fillers are needed when properly performed by a highly trained professional.
IS CLAYING AND DECONTAMINATING THE SAME AS PAINT CORRECTION?
No it is not the same. But, they are related services and are done in combination with each other to achieve paint correction. Decontamination and claying the paint is included in any paint correction service.
WHERE DO SCRATCHES COME FROM?
It’s hard to narrow down the reason for each vehicle. But, here are a few possible reasons:
- Road dirt
- Brake dust
- Tar
- Tree Sap
- Bird Droppings
- Sprinklers Overspraying/Water spots
- People brushing against the car with their clothing or bags
- Poor Detailing techniques and/or products
- Improper washing techniques/car washes
